Often I'm asked, "How can I become a demonologist?" or "How can I do deliverances?" or "How can I train to do exorcisms?" My answer is always one word. "Why?" We don't get into this field voluntarily as a rule. I was dragged into it kicking and screaming and denying my own pain and oppression. This is a lifetime commitment and a lifetime responsibility. Not a summer project. So my answer is, "Why?".
Spiritual Warfare is real and it's prevalent in our time. We can't ignore it, though to be honest I'm just as happy if nobody is affected by it and most people can go through their lives not knowing about it, and that's a good thing. Those of us involved with it are delighted if you never have to encounter it. My own journey into this field was begun by my rescue by my dear friend and mentor, Bill Bean, who had dealt with his own battles and heartbreak, and saw that heartbreak in me.
Sometimes it's someone else's heartbreak that leads us to this field. More often it's our own. My personal story would fill a network of soap operas. Pain in any form is an accurate representation of how this works. Pain, fear, anger, depression and loneliness are very common denominators in the birth of a Spiritual Warrior. Actually they often intrude on the current lives of Spiritual Warriors. The struggle is ongoing.
Starting from the beginning may be difficult because I honestly don't know just when it all started. My parents suffered great losses in their lifetimes. Homes burned, the losses of children due to disease and a drunk driver, financial troubles and many things we kids weren't privy to. Could this have been the same thing that decimated my own life? In my opinion it's likely. Why would it wait to strike at me later in life? Mostly because time isn't an issue to these beings. They have been here millennia and will be here millennia longer. Our lives are a blip on their screen. Time is no issue. This is how I explain long-ago Ouija board experiences just now tearing into someone's life. Perhaps someone in some way invited one of these things into his or her life generations ago. Again, time is no obstacle to these beings. Fortunately it's no obstacle to the "other side" or perhaps more elementary, the "Other Team".
Demons are not human and never have been. They're a different race. A different being. They're angels. Or Were. They're real and they're here. They have a hierarchy like the angels do and think and feel and see and hear and have a modicum of free will. But they don't like man.
Angels are real and they're there. They're also powerful and committed to God's work. They're a beacon of hope to those of us affected by evil in it's purest forms. Don't get me wrong; they're not cute little cherubs with tiny pretty wings and a little bow and arrows. Well, maybe some would give us that idea, but there are Angels waiting and watching. They're warriors. Powerful, and sometimes too much for us as humans to look upon.
They can look like men.
Hebrews 13:2New International Version (NIV) "Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it."
They can also appear in dazzling and often frightening blazing light,
Matthew 28:2-4New International Version (NIV) "2 There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4 The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men."
These are not the chubby little toddlers we see in pictures, but warriors of first rank. They're frightening and impressive. Not just to us, but to the evil that affects our lives. Their strength and protection are important parts of human history. Just as there are ranks and duties assigned to Angels, the same is true of the other side of that coin, the demons. For example, Cherubim, Seraphim, Zoa, Ophanim/Galgalim, Archangels, Irin-Qadeshin, Angel-Priests and finally Angelic Hosts. There are, as written in the Bible Guardian Angels. They're given the task of protecting us in our daily lives and through our struggles.
Psalm 91:10-12 New International Version (NIV) 10 no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
Angels are not human and never have been. We don't die and magically become Angelic. They're an entirely different species, all created at once by God. They don't add to their ranks when humans die. We're very lucky to have them. They're wise beyond our understanding in this lifetime and in this field, are powerful beings doing the work of freeing humans from evil. I've had experiences that in retrospect can only be attributed to divine intervention. I'm very blessed to have been protected many times when I've ignored signs or warnings.
How I must frustrate the powers of good in my life.
The work goes on. The calls come in and we answer because it's the right thing to do.
